After traveling the world and experiencing different whiskeys and musical genres, we decided to make our way back and bring our journey home to Iowa. But the challenge was also providing a dining atmosphere than could coexist with a live music bar. Not many exist and most bars with music lack food and most traditional restaurants lack a full entertainment option.

Jesse & The Medicine Men

Saturday June 24th

The Real Deal. Great Country Music, Done by the Best Jesse’s rich voice covers a very wide range. He can vibrate the basement with his bass, and yodel to high falsetto. He learned this from the artist’s that he admired, and perfected it by singing to cattle, in rural Montana, on his family’s ranch. Jesse is often asked to sing deep songs by Johnny Cash, or obscure tunes not heard on the radio anymore. Jesse loves audience participation when entertaining.

Brian Herrin

Friday July 7th

Brian Herrin is a classically trained singer-songwriter now living in Iowa. Originally from Illinois, he has shared the stage with such acts as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Vertical Horizon, Tonic, Carly Rae Jepsen, Sister Hazel and CLOVERTON. In 2008, he co-founded the band Decoy. From 2008-2015, he performed hundreds of shows and recorded two albums with the Des Moines based pop rock group. Currently, Brian can be found performing throughout the Midwest and is set to release a new solo album in 2023. http://www.brianherrin.com

Cool joint with great food, great whiskey and live music! The burger, duck fries & fettuccini Alfredo were excellent! My favorite drinks were the whiskey sour and stave & stout (sweet smooth bourbon with notes of cherries & chocolate). The drinks came out a tad slow, but you can tell why! They have fresh herbs and are meticulously poured. Lucas was a fantastic server! We will be back and highly recommend!

I love this place. It's got amazing music, great whiskey, and great food. They say they were born out of a love for good music and good whiskey and you can certainly tell that on Friday nights. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and they were delicious. I also ordered the salmon which was delicious (though the veggies were just ok). My dining companion and I shared the spinach salad which was great.

Great time - live bands - great drink options - great staff and owners. Hard to not enjoy yourself here, tremendous food, very well made whiskey drinks, solid beer selection on tap and great wines (according to the wife). The owner is very friendly - and the bands that come in really create a dynamic atmosphere. Perfect size place for a unique experience. Highly recommend!

I did not eat any food here but came for a Whiskey Flight and had a nice time. The bartenders were quick to acknowledge us, were very knowledgeable about the whiskeys and served us our orders promptly (I will note that it was not very busy when we arrived, there was only a couple other people at the bar). I had the Over Proof Bourbon flight at the bartenders recommendation, which I enjoyed.

These reviews can be full of crap sometimes, but this isn't. Stopped by for a first time visit. I am a Bourbon fan who loves a single malt scotch as well. Stopped by on a slow Wed night. Chris behind the bar made awesome recommendations for expanding my bourbon flavor profile, took pics.
